Your profile
Your profile holds your name, username, email address, and avatar. This page shows you how to update those details, verify your email, and manage what other people see on your public profile.
Open profile settings
- Go to your account settings at /settings/profile.
- You land on the Profile settings page, titled Profile information.
This is also the default page when you open Settings, so any settings link takes you here first.
Update your name, username, and email
The profile form has three fields you can edit:
- Name — your full name, shown across the dashboard and on your public profile.
- Username — your unique handle. It is used in your public profile URL, so keep it short and recognizable.
- Email address — the address used to sign in and receive account email.
Make your changes, then click Save. A small Saved message appears when the update goes through. If a field has a problem (for example, a username that is already taken), an error shows under that field.
Note: changing your email address marks it as unverified again. You will need to verify the new address before some features unlock. See Verify your email below.
Change your avatar
Your avatar is the round photo next to your name.
- Click the avatar image at the top of the profile page.
- Pick an image from your device.
- The upload starts right away. A spinner shows while it saves, and the new photo appears when it finishes.
Avatar requirements:
- Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP.
- Maximum size: 2 MB.
If a file is the wrong type or too large, a red message appears next to the avatar and the upload is skipped. If you do not upload a photo, your initials are shown instead.
Verify your email
When your email is unverified, a note appears under the email field that says your address is unverified.
- Click Click here to resend the verification email in that note.
- Check your inbox for the verification email and open the link inside it.
- After the link is sent, a green confirmation message appears on the page.
Verifying your email confirms you own the address and unlocks account areas that require a verified email, such as security settings and most other settings pages.
Your public profile
Other people can view a public profile at /profile/your-username, where your-username is the username you set above. The public profile can show your name, avatar, and details like your about text and social links.
You control the public profile from two other settings pages:
- Privacy — set your profile visibility. Go to Privacy settings and choose Public (anyone can view your profile) or Private. A private profile is not shown to other people.
- Social links — add your social media profiles and website links. Go to Social links to manage them. These links appear on your public profile.
If you change your username, your public profile URL changes too, so update any links you have shared.
