Extra websites add-on
Each plan includes a set number of websites. When you need more, you can buy extra website slots as an add-on. Extra websites are billed alongside your subscription, on the same monthly or yearly cycle. This page explains how to add capacity, when it is available, and how to remove slots you no longer need.
How website capacity works
Your total website capacity is the websites included with your plan plus any extra slots you have purchased:
- Included websites come with your plan.
- Extra websites are the add-on slots you buy on top of that.
- Usage is how many websites you have already created.
The add-on is only offered on plans that support it. Plans with unlimited websites do not show the add-on, because you never need more capacity. If your plan does not support the add-on, you will see a message that the plan does not support additional website capacity.
Only the billing owner can change capacity. For organization workspaces, that is the organization owner. If you are a member without billing access, you will be told to ask the billing owner.
Buy extra websites when subscribing
You can include extra websites in your first subscription:
- Go to your subscription settings at /settings/subscription.
- Choose a plan and start checkout.
- On the checkout review page, find the Additional websites stepper.
- Use the plus and minus buttons to set how many extra slots you want.
- Review the running total, then confirm and pay.
The checkout page shows your current usage and the new total capacity, plus the per-website price for your billing cycle.
Add or remove websites on an active plan
Once you are subscribed, you manage capacity from the subscription page:
- Open /settings/subscription.
- Find the Website capacity panel. It shows your included websites, extra websites, and usage.
- Click Add or remove websites.
- In the Website capacity dialog, use the stepper to set the number of extra websites.
- Click Save capacity.
The dialog previews your New quota (included plus extra) before you save. Extra websites are billed on your current subscription cycle, so the per-website price shown is per month or per year to match your plan.
When you increase capacity, Stripe creates a prorated charge for the rest of the current billing period. When you decrease, no immediate refund is issued; the lower quantity simply carries into your next invoice.
Minimums based on current usage
You cannot drop below the slots you are already using. If your usage is higher than your included websites, the dialog enforces a minimum number of extra websites to cover that usage. The minus button stops at this minimum, and the dialog notes the minimum required for current usage.
To reduce extra websites below that minimum, first delete websites you no longer need so your usage fits within the lower quota.
Hitting your limit while creating a website
When you try to create a website and the selected owner is full, the create screen tells you and offers options:
- Use another owner that still has free slots, if one exists.
- Add capacity to jump straight to the website capacity dialog for that owner.
The Add capacity button takes you to /settings/subscription with the capacity dialog open, so you can buy more slots and then return to create your website. If you do not have billing access for that owner, ask the billing owner to buy more website capacity.
