Organizations

agencms gives you two places to work: your personal account and any organizations you create or join. This page explains the difference, shows you how to create an organization, and covers what lives inside one.

Personal account vs organization

When you sign up, you start in your Personal Account. Anything you build there belongs only to you.

An organization is a shared space for a team. It has its own members, billing, and websites that everyone on the team can work on.

You switch between the two using the context switcher at the top of the sidebar. It shows your current context with either a person icon (Personal) or a building icon (Organization).

  1. Open the switcher in the sidebar (it shows your current name and either "Personal" or "Organization").
  2. Under Switch Context, choose Personal Account or one of your organizations.
  3. The page reloads into the context you picked.

The context you choose decides which websites and billing you see in the dashboard, so make sure you are in the right one before you start building.

Creating an organization

You create an organization from your account settings.

  1. Go to Settings → Organization, or open the sidebar switcher and choose Manage Organization.
  2. In the Create Organization card, type a name in the Organization name field.
  3. Select Create.

You become the owner of the new organization. The owner can rename it, manage billing and seats, invite or remove members, and delete the organization.

If you already belong to other organizations, they appear under Your Organizations with a Switch to button for each one.

What belongs to an organization

An organization is the owner of its resources. Moving into an organization context changes what you can see and manage.

Websites

Websites are owned by either a personal account or an organization. Websites created while you are in an organization context belong to that organization, and every member can access them based on their role. The website list labels each owner as Personal or Organization so you can tell them apart.

Billing and seats

Billing is set per organization. Until billing is configured, you will see "No billing configured" and you cannot invite members yet.

  • The owner sets up billing from Settings → Subscription using the Subscribe button on the organization page.
  • Team capacity is measured in seats. The Team members panel shows seats Used, Available (or Over limit), and Active members.
  • On per-seat plans, the owner can select Manage seats to change the number of paid seats. Adding seats is invoiced immediately as a prorated charge; reducing seats lowers the recurring total at the next renewal.

For more on plans and payments, see Subscription & billing.

Members

The owner invites people by email from the Members section and assigns each one a role. Inviting requires billing and at least one available seat. The owner can change a member's role or remove them at any time. Invited people show an Invited badge until they accept.

Leaving or deleting an organization

What you can do here depends on your role.

  • Members see a Leave organization option. Leaving removes your access to all of that organization's resources, and you will need a new invitation to rejoin.
  • Owners see a Danger zone with Delete organization. Deleting is permanent: it removes all members and data and cannot be undone.

Your personal account is always available, so switching back to it after leaving an organization keeps your own work intact.
